Key elements of the NEAP strategy
A key element of the NEAP is comprehensive analysis of the environment condition. Ten thematic areas that cover key issues are Identified (air, water, land, forests, waste, area, economy, biodiversity, health and demography, legal and institutional), and for their analysis were formed ten working groups comprised of 50 eminent experts from both entities. Significant contribution to NEAP, with their active participation were representatives of the World Bank and other international institutions and organizations (OHR, USAID, UNDP, REC).
With joint multidisciplinary approach eight priority fields of NEAP were identified (Water Resources/waste water, sustainable rural development, Environmental management, protection of biological and landscape diversity, waste/waste management, economy/sustainable economic development, public health and demining). Priority fields, measures and activities that are a prerequisite for achieving the priorities of the NEAP and in accordance with them are defined, in an open process of nomination over 450 proposals of specific projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina were received.
