Training public sector for
use of environmental geoinformation basis of sustainable development

The immediate objective of this project is the training of officials of relevant ministries at the entity level and the Secretariat on the municipal level for the use of modern information tools for spatial analytics and construction of space-oriented databases. It basically consists of selecting and adapting of modern spatial information tools to needs of the public sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina, staff training and deployment of these tools in daily work of government agencies. The project has several intermediate goals:

• 
  introduction of modern methods of collecting and processing spatial information in work of relevant services of public administration and improving the process of land management and natural and social systems in terms of environmental protection,
• creating the core of competent experts who will be able to continue to propagate the idea of sustainable development based on the application of modern information tools,
• encouraging development of useful geoinformation foundation as the basis for the design and implementation of environmental and in general, development projects at the national, entity, regional and local level,
• initiating the development of compatible spatial information systems in BiH comparable with European naighbours as a basis for participation in international projects.
