Geoinformatics concept of training and education
For the infrastructure companies, it became clear that transition to digital processing and data management was necessary. The biggest obstacle to effective and rational use and flow of data and creation of information is the training of staff members.
More or less, it is clear for which software tools or technologies there must be trained certain parts of the system or individuals. They are usually sent to specialized courses. IT specialists are trained primarily for database creation and overcoming the problem of transactions and processing large amounts of data. Engineers from the area of design and maintenance are being taught about skills of using CAD tools. Administrative staff is trained to use Office programs. Finally, in an attempt to integrate all of these processes for needs of management, specialists for GIS are trained.
The first question after the training is what part and in what time that what was learned could be translated into new productive and cost-effective way of performing tasks that were performed before training? Usually, the progress is on the "long pole", and if there are any - followed by the questions of specific effects for the business environment and for the system that has financed that training. If someone writes in a more modern and faster way, it does not mean that it is better and faster read (used).
What is the problem? In the simple fact that the program of most of these courses are focused on ensuring that the student masters certain predefined tools. In better training programs both, teacher and student are trying to associate the application of these tools in solving concrete tasks. The worst result of that study may be that the student what he or she did before successfully by hand - adjusts to the digital processing capabilities in such way - only to start working effectively wrong.
The starting points of the Inova's proposed training program include the following:
- The success of training for the use of software tools depends on the degree of authenticity of the translation of good conducting of specific tasks to the classic way of work.
- Learning is focused primarily on the software routines and sets for rational collecting, processing and using of input data required for making concrete project, its more automated and productive designing, and preparing of the information output which will contribute the most to the effectiveness and integrity of business and technical information system of the company.
- The students, in addition to being trained for the use of standardized computer tools during carrying out their tasks at the same time master their role and the rules of team work in conditions of digital processing.
- In the interaction of work team and the instructor, the upgrades of standard programming tools emerge, which all in direct, effective and rational way meet the specific requirements of business processes in the company.
In short: the aim is integrity of the introduction of computer technology of data processing and development of information systems of the corporation.
Whom is the proposed program intended to? First of all, for the technical personnel in those parts of the infrastructure organization in which are processed, created and maintained the basic input data and processing for the management of the telecommunication infrastructure.
Some segments of training are designed for:
- sector of technical maintenance of infrastructure and facilities that use the technical documentation,
- administrative staff that prepares the administrative and financial forms and reports related to projects, technical documentation and maintenance.
Following departments are met with the capabilities of specific modules
(for an review and analysis of results of treatment) :
- part of management that uses thematic maps and reports from the processing for investment planning, that is, new consumer services,
- part of management that calls for tenders for the construction, or is negotiating with bidders of surveying and construction works, and others.
